Ice Molds
- Manufactured by Farasard
- Available in various sizes and capacities
- In two types of rectangular and square
- Made from galvanized and stainless steel materials
- High safety
- Made with the highest quality materials
Ice comes in various shapes based on its production method. For example, a powder ice maker produces snow-like ice, a flake ice maker produces sheet-like flake ice, and finally, block ice comes in two shapes: square and rectangular.
Unlike crushed and flake ice, industrial block ice has precise and regular shapes, making it more suitable for food and decorative uses. These ice molds are produced in various sizes and capacities. To learn more about this supplementary product, read this article to the end.
What is an Ice Mold?
Ice molds are containers available in different materials and sizes, into which water is poured and then frozen. Below, we provide comprehensive information about the types of ice molds.
Types of Ice Molds
Ice molds can be categorized based on their appearance, capacity, and material type.
Ice Molds Based on Capacity and Volume
The ice molds produced by Farasard are available in the following sizes:
- 5 kg mold
- 8 kg mold
- 5 kg mold
- 15 kg mold
- 25 kg mold (the largest size for industrial use)
It should be noted that, based on customer requests, it is also possible to design and manufacture ice molds in 19 and 20 kg capacities. Ice molds ranging from 5 to 15 kg are manually filled and emptied, while those above 15 kg are emptied using a crane, which increases operational efficiency.
Smaller molds are typically used in food and beverage applications. For example, in cafes and restaurants, small ice molds are used to cool drinks and desserts. In contrast, larger industrial ice molds are used for industrial purposes.
Ice Molds Based on Shape
Ice molds can be categorized into two types based on the shape of the produced ice:
- Rectangular or block ice mold
- Square or standard ice mold
Rectangular ice molds are easier to construct and remove ice from. Additionally, the amount of ice produced and released by rectangular molds is greater than that of square molds because the freezing time of water in a rectangular mold is faster than in a square one. For this reason, rectangular molds are used in industrial applications to increase efficiency.
Ice Molds Based on Material
Ice molds must be made from materials that are not only resistant to moisture and water but also do not alter the taste and color of the produced ice over time. Therefore, ice molds are made from two materials: galvanized and stainless steel.
- Galvanized Mold: This is one of the most durable and sturdy types of ice molds, made from sheets with a thickness of 1.5 mm or more.
- Stainless Steel Mold: These molds are known for their rust resistance and high quality, designed and manufactured with a thickness of 1.25 mm or more.
Structure of the Mold
As mentioned, industrial ice molds are made from galvanized and stainless steel in various thicknesses. The design and structure of the molds involve bending three sides with a machine and welding one side to another with a welding machine. The welding is done very precisely to prevent water from penetrating these parts over time.
The edges of the ice mold are bent outward using a bending machine and secured with a strap to prevent injury to personnel during emptying. It is also worth noting that as the volume and capacity of the ice molds increase, the thickness of the mold sheets also increases.
Factors Influencing the Price of Ice Molds
Several factors influence the final price and cost of ice molds, including:
- Material of the mold
- Size and capacity of the mold
- Customization vs. using standard sizes
- Shape of the mold
- Manufacturing method
